Introducing the Consumer Trends 2025 Mid-Year Report
AI is polarizing. Pets are family. Podcasts move culture.
I’m excited to share a new Consumer Trends report, my latest collaboration with Coefficient Capital.
This latest Consumer Trends report is a 125-slide presentation that you can view and download for free, on my site. (Here’s also a secret direct link to the PDF — feel free to share widely!)
It’s the latest in our ongoing Consumer Trends series, which has now generated 14 reports. (All of this continues to be inspired, of course, by analyst and investor Mary Meeker’s legendary Internet Trends report.)
Topics include: How consumers think about artificial intelligence — and how they’re using it — right now.
New data on longevity: Who is actively trying to live longer? How much would they pay?
The humanization of pets continues. What are dog and cat owners doing to extend their pets’ lives?
And how podcasts are winning, as consumers trust the news less.
More results from our 13th original Consumer Trends survey of more than 3,000 US consumers, in partnership with Toluna.
I’ll also be exploring these topics further here on Substack: Please subscribe now to get future updates and all of my work. And if you find this valuable, please consider becoming a member.

Really enjoyed going through this! Particularly how AI is being regarded by generations / earners. I was surprised by the food happiness matrix — where wine beverages placed versus spirits, given the market is showing wine recession outpacing spirits recession. According to SipServe data.. wine is down 9.9% (volume) while spirits volume is down 6.3% in Q1 ‘25.
